God is moving powerfully through many cities and provinces of China, with thousands of Chinese being saved every day. However, some provinces are still very much strongholds of the enemy with little or no Christian presence. Minority groups such as the Huis, Uighurs and Tibetans are part of the 2000+ people groups throughout the world yet to be reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Himself spent 40 days of fasting and intercession before He began His ministry. The apostle Paul reminds us that, "The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4). To attempt to evangelise without first accomplishing a measure of spiritual breakthrough can only lead to frustration and futility.

Many of the results accomplished by intercession teams will only be revealed in eternity. However, we can and frequently do experience some amazing things.
On one trip, following several hours of worship and intercession, we met two young men who had come to burn joss sticks in order to seek inner peace. As we engaged them in conversation and answered their questions, each in his own time met Jesus. They threw their joss sticks upon the ground and stomped on them, signifying that they no longer needed these to have peace in their hearts. They must have spoken of their experience straight away, for when we were on our way again, we met two men who asked us: "Where are the little booklets you have to tell us the truth? We heard about them from the two young men who were speaking to you earlier in the day." You can imagine our excitement as we had an opportunity to share with them too about the love of Jesus.
Men and women of all ages are encouraged to apply for these teams, although a reasonable level of fitness is necessary as walking and some climbing is involved. Ideally we require most of the team to be those who have a proven intercessory ministry. However, we also encourage those who have little experience but desire to develop in this ministry, so long as they are spiritually mature, willing to work as part of a close team, and operate under the authority of the team leaders.
A previous team member commented: "I never believed prayer could be so exciting and spiritually rewarding."
