This intercession trip was a true highlight in my walk with the Lord. It was so great to be on team, with the fun and camaraderie, the delight at being among the beautiful Tibetan people, and the humbling experience of meeting full-time workers. Spending so much of the day in prayer and warfare was thrilling. God is good.
The prayers together each morning were precious times of worship and a sense of His presence. There was great unity in the team from very early on, which made it easy to hear the Lord. From the start He spoke, through different team members, of His sovereignty over man-made idols. The predominant theme in the team meetings was Jesus as King, and as we prayer-walked or prayed over the city, I had a real sense that Jesus was poised with His army, waiting to set the captives free from the demonic strongholds that held them in such fear.
The highlight for me came on a day when we were prompted to perform a prophetic act. The day started with anointed worship and a real sense of Jesus' power and victory. Some of the team wept over the city as God expressed His heart through them. His presence was tangible and even after the prayer meeting a supernatural sweet peace filled the room.
In obedience to what we sensed God was saying, the ladies made a lovely crown from basic materials, while the guys bought materials to make a throne. Then we climbed a mountain overlooking the city. There we fashioned a throne, using branches from a nearby forest and red string that we had bought. We draped it with gold cloth, signifying kingship, placed the crown on it, and also a cross bearing a crown of thorns at its base. It sounds simple and perhaps a little mundane in the telling, but it was anything but that. It was a sacred moment as the girls performed a dance and then, in turn, we recited Scriptures that the Lord had given us, telling of His power, dominion and absolute authority. I sensed that something very significant was happening in the heavenlies.
We had an idol that we were going to smash with a rock (representing the Rock!). As we were about to do that, an elderly Tibetan lady came up to us. She seemed drawn to us. We expressed the love of Jesus (which we were all feeling in abundance) and prayed a blessing over her. Her face was visibly transformed as we prayed and then, as we continued to minister to her the love of Jesus, she could not hold back the tears. A China-based co-worker who was travelling with us spoke to the lady in Tibetan. She shared a gospel message and felt that the lady had really understood. We then proceeded to smash the idol with the rock and I sensed Jesus saying that idols had already been smashed in the elderly lady's life. The fear and bondage imposed by demons are smashed by the power of the love of Christ.
I am still living in the glow of that experience. At church this last Sunday, as we sang of the power of God and of His rule and reign, I felt a new certainty of what we were singing deep in my heart and all the exhilaration of standing with the Victor on that Tibetan mountainside came surging back.
If you want to see the Lord afresh and feel His heartbeat, you couldn't do better than join such a short-term team!
I feel so much love and longing for the Tibetan people. GOD really wants everyone to know HIM. GOD has burdened my heart for the Tibetan people, i am praying for them every day and i believe that i will meet them soon. Keep up the good work of praclaiming and living out the Gospel. GOD BLESS.
