"We ate with the Tibetan men and joked with them as we tried to transcend the language gap... Our hearts have somehow put down roots in Tibet."
D.B. - South Africa.
"I continue to think of the great friends we met and the great times of fun we had while on the trip"
R.A. - South Africa.
In an eastern corner of Tibet live an unreached people. Their ancient villages are hidden in deep valleys and rugged mountains, secluded for generations. Only now are we beginning to discover their unique culture and ways. Though their culture is rich and their surroundings spectacular, they are trapped in a snare of superstition, gripped by the fear of the spirits they strive to appease. It's our calling to bring Kingdom hope, freedom already purchased but not yet realized. We ask you to join us on this Kingdom Quest and trek through their land. You could pray from where you are; you could even support our endeavour from afar. But why not get up close and personal? Add your light to ours and push back the darkness. Contact your local AM-CCSM office for more information.
Our trips all start in the city from where we head by bus into the Tibetan regions to the west and north west. Once we arrive in the areas there is time to acclimatize and take it all in, and then we'll get trekking. All our time trekking will be spent in spectacular mountainous areas. Nights are spent in tents or in Tibetan homes.
Tibetans are not all part of one people group but rather several very different nationalities with different customs and languages. Our treks focus on one of these groups the ‘B'. These people are not followers of Tibetan Buddhism but instead the shamanistic Tibetan religion called Bon. They live in constant fear of the spirit world.
The ‘B' are farmers of the steep mountains and also raise yak and sheep. Their stone homes have not changed for hundreds of years. You're not going to come across a more hospitable and generous group of people.
