"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say this." Psalm 107:1

By the time you read this, another Christmas and another New Year's Day will be behind us. And many of us will continue to review the year that has gone and plan and dream about the year ahead.

As I think back on my first 12 months as New Zealand Director of CCSM, my first thought is to give thanks to the Lord. He has been good to this ministry in 2011 and we confidently look forward to His continued blessing in 2012. We have every reason to thank Him and so, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!"

I want to thank Him for our faithful supporters in New Zealand who have been more generous than ever in 2011. Some of you are weekly or monthly contributors to this work. Some of you have made stunning one-off donations to CCSM. Some of you have contributed sacrificially beyond what you could reasonably afford. Many have given countless hours of voluntary time to the ministry. For all of you I thank God. I acknowledge the Lord's goodness and your generosity and obedience.

I want to thank Him for the growth of our work amongst the Chinese churches in New Zealand in 2011. Half of our supporters are now ethnic Chinese. They have been generous in both financial giving and time. We now have a team of talented Chinese helpers who have brought technical skill and evangelistic passion that gives me huge confidence for the future of this work. The hearts of Chinese New Zealand Christians are truly turning towards "home".

I want to thank God for the opportunity I had late in 2011 to take part in the annual leaders' team into China. It was an amazing experience observing first-hand the extraordinary work that is being done by seemingly ordinary people on behalf of an extraordinary church. I have come back resolved to redouble my efforts to tell the story of the church in China today. To tell Kiwis of all ethnic backgrounds that there is no less need today than there was in the days when the front door to China was firmly closed. Sure, things are different, but all that means is that the needs are different. I want to tell people that there are new opportunities, teams and projects that provide feedback and on-going dialogue. But there remains desperate need in many places for the old staples - Bibles and Christian teaching books. We were unable to meet demand in 2011, but now is a new day.

I thank God for the team of prayer supporters He has raised up in New Zealand to pray for China, to pray for the Chinese people and to pray for all those who work under the CCSM network. To them we owe a huge debt for they are engaged in the most crucial work of all.

I want to thank God that the future of CCSM is not just another year of appeals and more of the same (though we will continue to bring specific needs to your attention). It is a future full of exciting opportunity for those who would respond to the challenge!

Thank you all again for working with us in 2011. CCSM New Zealand can truly say, "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good."

Murray Cameron
New Zealand Director

Pray that God will continue to grow our supporters in New Zealand and that they would be challenged to take part in the many ministry opportunities CCSM provides.

Pray that I might have increased invitations to speak in both English- and Chinese-speaking churches in 2012.

Pray that there would be a resurgence of interest in short-term teams and that hearts would be touched by such experiences.

Pray that God would raise up more workers with a heart for China. Pray that many might go out from our New Zealand Chinese churches.
