Genesis 25 is a transitional chapter. Abraham died and the next generation became the focus of attention. In that connection there are two powerful lessons.
Firstly, we are told that Isaac was 60 years old (v26) when his sons Esau and Jacob were born as twins. But verse 20 tells us he was 40 when he married Rebekah. During the 20 years from marriage to fatherhood he had to engage in strong prayer for his wife in order that she might bear children ("Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was barren." v21). We might think that after Abraham's long battle to see Isaac born, the next generation would have it easy, but that was not so. Isaac had to fight the same battle all over again - although his father's testimony in this area must have been a real help.

The second report on the church in China, published in April, came from the China Aid Association (CAA) and claimed that China's government is currently engaged in a three-phase campaign to eradicate Protestant house churches.
Two seemingly conflicting reports on the situation for the church in China were released during March and April. As is so often the case with news from China, whatever you say is true somewhere!
