AM-CCSM News

Posted on 28 January 2012.

This year's Antioch School of Missions' (ASM) students have now moved into part two of their course when they will be more involved in various areas of ministry.

These include serving the children at one of our foster homes for abandoned babies, serving at a local community centre in a poor urban area, teaching English at a ‘boot camp' for teenagers with internet addictions or other problems, and reaching out to students through university English corners. Alongside this they will continue studying the Chinese language to help them be more effective in their ministry. It will also be a time for them to consider what the Lord is saying to them about their longer-term futures. Please keep them in your prayers.

If you're interested in joining the next ASM school, which will start in August, please contact your local AM-CCSM office straight away. You can find out more details on the website at www.asmchina.org.

Our latest China School of Missions (CSM), for local Chinese believers, started in late December and the students there will receive training from various Asian teachers in coming months before heading out on their placements at the end of April. We recently heard from a co-worker that, "After the first CSM, some of the graduates went out to serve amongst minority people while others went back to serve in their churches. Yet after the one year of training, all were transformed, their eyes were opened, and they now serve in a different way!" We pray that the same may be true of this new intake of students.

Now is also the time to be thinking about joining one of our short-term teams during 2012. Remember that this year we are celebrating 25 years of serving in China and are therefore offering a new ‘Come and See' team on which you can experience for yourself many of the areas of ministry that AM-CCSM is involved in. Other team options include mercy, impact cycle China, intercession, English teaching and pastors/leaders. You can find more information on our website at www.amccsm.org/short-term-teams or via your local AM-CCSM office.

Give thanks for those who completed our first China School of Missions and are now serving in different areas of China. Pray that the current students will also grow in their faith and understanding of the Gospel during this time of teaching, and will then be able to have a powerful impact across China.

Pray for the Antioch School of Missions' students who are now beginning to be involved in various areas of ministry. Pray for perseverance and encouragement as they continue to study the Chinese language and that the Lord will speak to them about His long-term call on their lives.

Pray that we will see many people join one of our short-term teams for the first time this year. Pray that their exposure to the needs of China might lead to a greater understanding and a vision to serve our brothers and sisters there in whatever way the Lord might call.
