Needy Children

Posted on 19 July 2009.

‘R' is a 13-year-old girl living in a small Chinese village. Already in her short life she has faced much grief.

Her mother died when she was young and, after her father remarried, she was badly treated by her stepmother. A few years ago, both her father and stepmother committed suicide, so now she has been passed into the care of her uncle and his wife.

Twelve-year-old ‘P' also experienced the death of her mother at a young age. When her father remarried, he left ‘P' behind and has had no further contact with her. Thankfully her elderly grandparents were willing to look after her.

‘T' is just 10-years-old, but has already experienced tragedy. She grew up in a violent home and her mother is now in prison for the murder of her father. She too is now cared for by her grandparents.

These three young children are typical of those who are currently being sponsored by the mercy wing of our ministry. Many have lost one or more parents and are being cared for by relatives. All come from poor village areas and their families struggle to pay for their education and basic living costs. So AM-CCSM has stepped in to help by providing a small monthly donation. Our co-workers also regularly visit these children to encourage them, see what their needs are and to share of the hope to be found in Jesus.

This month members of our short-term mercy team hope to be able to visit some of these children, as well as assist our China-based co-workers with two other projects.

Pray for the three young girls mentioned in the text. May each one know healing from the pains of the past, provision for the needs of each day, and true hope for the future through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray for each of the needy children currently being sponsored through our mercy ministry. Pray for the Lord to be powerfully at work bringing transformation to every aspect of their lives.

Pray for our co-workers who are in regular contact with these sponsored children. May their words and actions speak clearly to these children of the Lord's loving care.

Pray for this month's short-term mercy team. Pray that the Lord might surround them with His Hand of protection and use them mightily for His glory.
