AM-CCSM News

Posted on 28 November 2009.

The October intercession team had a special time visiting a large number of AM-CCSM's China-based co-workers, as well as travelling out into the Tibetan areas. They heard the various challenges faced by those working inside China and were able to pray into their situations and bring encouragement.

One highlight for all the team was climbing up a high mountain to build a symbolic throne for the Lord and pray for breakthroughs for the Gospel amongst the Tibetans. "We have had wonderful times praying and worshiping throughout China," reported the team leader.

Now is a good time to be thinking about whether you can join a team in 2010. We are offering international teams in January, April, July/August and October/November. Applications for the January team have now closed, but you can contact your local AM-CCSM office for details of teams due to take place during the rest of 2010. We expect to have courier, mercy and intercession teams as usual, plus some trekking and bike teams for those who enjoy more strenuous activities!

We are delighted that, despite the global recession, by the end of November we had been able to print 1,350,000 Christian teaching books for China. This is a great achievement that was only made possible by the generous donations from you our supporters. God has been good and we are thrilled to have been able to print so many books. With only a few weeks left before the end of the year, we still have an opportunity to print a further 150,000 books to make a grand total of 1.5 million books for this year. Please would you pray with us that we will achieve this. If you can help financially, your donation would be greatly appreciated. We know some reading this have already given generously and we thank you once again for your support over this last year.

Our next Antioch School of Missions (ASM) course will be starting in August 2010 and you can find out all about it on our new ASM website at www.asmchina.org. You can also access the ASM site from our main website at www.amccsm.org - check out the links to Mission School or ASM. We're delighted to be able to offer three different options this time - a six-month ‘mini' course from August to February; an eleven-month ‘gap' course for those with more time to spare; and the ‘full' eleven-month course for those who are thinking of staying in China longer-term. All three programs offer plenty of training in cross-cultural mission as well as opportunities to put what you learn into practice through short-term outreaches. Contact your local office to find out more.

Give thanks for God's blessing on the October intercession team. Join your prayers to theirs as you lift up our China-based co-workers and the millions of Tibetans who still wait to hear the good news of the Gospel.

Lift up next year's teams. One of AM-CCSM's focuses for the coming year is to share God's heart for China with the younger generation. Pray for more young people to catch the vision for joining a team and ask the Lord if there is something you can do to encourage or support someone to go on a team.

Help us to spread the word too about the new options for the Antioch School of Missions. Ask the Lord if there is someone who you can tell about the ASM website or pass on our new ASM brochure. Pray for God to call many more to come and serve Him in China or to come on ASM and consider their future before the Lord.

Pray with us that we will be able to print the last 150,000 Christian teaching books to enable us to reach a total of 1.5 million for the year. Pray for financial provision for the literature ministry and please prayerfully consider your part in that.
